SEO myths disclosed by an ex-Google

Google doesn’t dislike your website, AdWords doesn’t make any difference on SEO and ‘newness’ and keywords are not as important as you think.

Every industry has myths and so does the SEO as well. Google tries to clear some common myths on SEO. However, this was the best a small team of professionals can do to spread awareness at international conferences. Below are the myths, disclosed by an ex-Google Search employee and SEO expert.

Myth #1 SEO is a one-time work
Yes it is true that SEO is all about getting it to the right rank but not entirely accurate. Getting top on the search engines is the topmost priority for every business but maintain that rank is a difficult task. So it is not true that SEO is a one time work. One has to keep on working on SEO to maintain the site rank and for better performance.

Myth #2 SEO is backlinks
As we know it, links are the most important and basic element on the internet. Without links, mostly search engines are not able to find any content on the internet. This is why backlinks is an important part of SEO but saying that SEO is all about backlinks is a myth. Backlinks should be active for every site but not only for the purpose of gaining rank. But backlinks should be done for the growth purpose of a business as well.

Myth #3 Google dislikes my website
This personal complaint is as frequent as it is invalid. Google is a global search engine and it will never dislike any website. Google has no personal enmity with any website. There are many claims registered while the audit that Google is not pushing up the website rank. This is a complete myth. If a website is not, there might be other reasons like inadequate SEO, irrelevant keywords, etc.

Myth #4 SEO is ‘newness’
Yes, it is really necessary to update new and fresh content on Google but only when newness is a factor of intent. For sites, which are raking faster fresh content can be an advantage. But if you are taking a piece of old news or article and replacing it with the current take, it is not going to make the content new. This is why newness is not as important as you think and it is a complete myth.

Above were just 4 myths about SEO but there are many more myths and it will continue as it’s a part of the business world.
